The story behind the artwork
Inspired by Kristjana’s love of and respect for nature, these two brand new Limited Edition prints feature one of the true heroes of the natural world; the bee. Currently under threat around the world, these superstar pollinators have been given a stunning artistic treatment in Kristjana’s unique, trademark style.
The Queen Bee flies calmly, through cool, light dappled skies, back to the haven of her hive. Crowned and bedecked with aqua gems, there is no mistaking the mistress of the colony. Motifs of melody and sound signify her role in communing with her minions, the part she plays to ensure ordered and effective labour. Yet a tiny timepiece alludes to the transitory nature of her being, and the threat that this species faces and the impact it could have on mankind.
Artwork Details
Bespoke Hand and laser cut paper collage. Digitally designed, hand sculpted paper elements are painstakingly pinned in place onto a thick foam board, creating a stunning three dimensional effect. There will be a total of 10 artworks created in the series which will all have a key element variation of the initial artwork shown in the photographs. The following 9 pieces will be created as order come in and will have a lead time of 10-12 weeks.

- Signed by the artist.
